Detection of Ground Moving Targets for Two-Channel Spaceborne SAR-ATI

چکیده
Many present spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems are constrained to only two channels for ground moving target indication (GMTI). Along-track interferometry (ATI) technique is currently exploited to detect slowly moving targets and measure their radial velocity and azimuth real position. In this paper, based on the joint probability density function (PDF) of interferogram’s phase and amplitude and the two hypotheses “clutter” and “clutter plus signal”, several constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection criteria are analyzed for their capabilities and limitations under low signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR) and low clutterto-noise ratio (CNR) conditions. The CFAR detectors include one-step CFAR detector with interferometric phase, two-step CFAR detectors, and two-dimensional (2D) CFAR detector. The likelihood ratio test (LRT) based on the Neyman-Pearson (NP) criterion is exploited as an upper bound for the performance of the other CFAR detectors. Performance analyses demonstrate the superiority of the 2D CFAR techniques to detect dim slowly moving targets for spaceborne system.

A Novel Moving Target Detection Approach for Dual-channel Sar System
A novel approach to moving target detection is proposed for dual-channel SAR system. This approach is on the basis of eigendecomposition of the sample covariance matrix and examines the statistic of the second eigenvalue and the Along-Track Interferometric (ATI) phase for ground moving target indication. Based on this statistic, a new Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) detector can be designed to...
متن کاملRobust Moving Target Detection and Parameter Estimation Based on Three-channel SAR Images
Ground moving target indication (GMTI) is an important function of many airborne or spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. The detection of ground moving targets based on SAR images, called SAR-GMTI, is a popular way. It is difficult for a conventional single-channel SAR system to achieve good GMTI performance, because of the difficulty in separating the ground moving targets from t...

In spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sensors, it is a challenging task to detect ground slow-moving targets against strong clutter background with limited spatial channels and restricted pulse repetition frequency (PRF). In this paper, we evaluate the image-based dual-channel SAR-ground moving target indication (SAR-GMTI) workflow for the Gaofen-3 SAR sensor and analyze the impact of st...
متن کاملUnambiguous Imaging of Static Scenes and Moving Targets with the First Chinese Dual-Channel Spaceborne SAR Sensor
Multichannel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a breakthrough given the inherent limitation between high-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) faced with conventional SAR. This paper aims to obtain unambiguous imaging of static scenes and moving targets with the first Chinese dual-channel spaceborne SAR sensor. We propose an integrated imaging scheme with the dual-channel echoes. In the imaging sche...
متن کاملMoving Target Motion Parameter Estimation in Two-Channel SAR-GMTI
Part 1: Two-channel SAR-GMTI systems are suboptimal for moving target motion parameter estimation. Indeed, the ATI phase estimate of a moving target across-track velocity component is biased to lower values depending on the target signal to clutter ratio and the target across-track velocity. Additional antenna diversity can introduce additional degrees of freedom th...
